Remember when you were six or seven and you couldn’t wait for Christmas? Well I was no different. I loved Christmas because I knew I was going to get some great toys. You know how it goes, at Christmas time you’re kinder, more helpful and more loving. I should get an award for being kinder and sweeter at Christmas time. This little journey starts with some tickets my dad got from his job to see a Christmas show for kids. He asked my sister Pat if she wanted to go, but she declined. My other sister was too old to go because it was a little childish to her since she was older than we were. I gladly accepted the invitation to go with just my dad and me.

We left the house with me all smiles and anticipating something special. I watched my dad as he drove the car thinking, “that’s really cool.” There wasn’t much conversation but just being with him was enough for me. My dad parked the car and while we were walking, he grabbed my hand to guide me to where we were going. We got inside the auditorium and there were thousands of little kids just like me with their parents. My dad told me to stay by him so I wouldn’t get lost. They were screaming and laughing and patiently waiting for the show to begin. All of a sudden, the lights faded and the show began. A bunch of cartoon characters appeared on stage dancing and having fun with the audience. I don’t recall the plot or who they were, but the moment was magical and filled with laughter. We laughed from time to time and ate popcorn. When the show was over, we went through a certain doorway and the ushers handed out candy canes as we were leaving. When we got outside my dad grabbed my hand again and escorted me to the car. It was a beautiful evening as far as I was concerned....
